Fall in Celina, TX

October 14, 2022 6:03 pm

Spooky scares and fun tricks and treats abound in Celina this time of year. Fall is one of the best times to get outdoors, enjoy the cooler weather, fall festivities, and all that Celina has to offer.

From vendor markets to Halloween celebrations and the start of fall and winter sports seasons, if you’re looking to make the most of your October calendar, there are plenty of fun options to choose from for the whole family right here in town.

Get Crafty at the Friday Night Market

Celina's Friday Night Markets are held monthly in Celina’s Downtown Square March through November.

One of the best things about the market that keeps people coming back is the incredible variety of local and regional vendors with something for everyone. Guests can stroll through the square and find unique gifts from local artisans such as CJ’s Thread and Timber, Texas Girl Treasures, and Whirlwind Designs as well as delicious food from Swirls Bakery, Huckle Bee Farm, and Aw, Nuts.

There is also live music at each month’s markets, including a variety of music genres from local singer-songwriters to rock and blues. This month’s performer on October 14th is CJ Briscoe, a North Texas guitarist and singer. Don’t miss it!

Scare Up Some Fun at the Halloween Capital of North Texas

Did you know Celina was designated the "Halloween Capital of North Texas?" With Halloween festivities such as Celina's Beware! of the Square, it's easy to see why. A frightfully fun time is sure to be had at this year’s Beware! of the Square on October 22 from 4 PM to 9 PM. It's one of Celina's most popular events, “drawing thousands of zombies, jedis, and princesses to the historic downtown Square each year, this event offers the perfect mix of spooky and sweet.”

There’s so much going on at this event it’s guaranteed to be a spooktacular time! Events and activities include:

  • Pumpkin painting
  • Trick-or-treating
  • Haunted house
  • Escape rooms
  • Thriller dance lessons
  • Kids zone
  • Halloween photo opportunities
  • And more

There will also be plenty of blood!… or more specifically, a blood drive. Carter Bloodcare will be on site from 2-9:45 PM for a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive between the Celina Fire and Police Departments. You can register now to make an appointment to donate blood between trick-or-treating and pumpkin painting and help them reach their goal of 23 pints of blood.

Take a Swing or Go for the Shot!

As we said, fall is one of the best times to enjoy the outdoors in Celina, and golfers will want to take advantage of the cooler temps and hit the links. The Downtown Celina Golf Tournament takes place on October 25 at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

The event starts at 11 AM with four golfers per group making their way through the Hills Course’s 18 holes. This tournament is a longstanding tradition in Celina, and provides fundraising for downtown Celina events like Beware! Of the Square and the Friday Night Market.

The entire month of October is also the time for the kids to sign-up for Celina Parks and Recreation winter basketball season, with the final day of registration falling on October 30th. Games will take place on Saturdays at various Celina school gyms, as well as in Van Alstyne, Texas. The league is open to kids in kindergarten through 6th grade.
