Schools
While each new school year brings excitement, the 2022-2023 school is particularly exciting for middle schoolers in the Celina ISD. This school year marked the grand opening of the new Jerry and Linda Moore Middle School! The 208,000-square-foot facility opened for students at the start of the school year and incorporates state-of-the-art features for learning. New collaborative spaces allow students to learn in a small group setting that breaks the mold of the traditional classroom environment.
The school also boasts STEM education areas, two gyms, a weight room, a tennis court, and a cafeteria with covered outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. The new middle school can accommodate 1,500 students and is named after former Celina Junior High Principal Jerry Moore and his wife Linda, a former Celina teacher. Moore Middle School’s principal Jamey Briscoe told the Celina Record that the school will not only be an amazing space for learning but will be safer for students.
Currently, elementary school-aged children are served by Celina Primary School, Marcy B Lykins Elementary, and Odell Elementary, though Superintendent Tom Maglisceau anticipates a new elementary school opening in the fall of 2023. High schoolers in the Celina ISD attend Celina High School – go Bobcats!
It’s an exciting time to live in Celina with new schools and new growth. Being just a 15-minute drive from the high school and new middle school and less than a 10-minute drive from Marcy B Lykins Elementary, it’s easy to see why Green Meadows is such an appealing community for families.
